In this step, you’ll join your local and state groups so that you can see their categories.

XR is decentralised
Extinction Rebellion Australia is a decentralized movement. We advocate involvement first at the local level. This enables the integration of the new members into the face-to-face movement within a human-sized group. We stress the importance of this step in creating bonds of trust between XR members. State (and ultimately local) groups develop and carry out non-violent civil disobedience actions locally.
You do not have to take part in civil disobedience actions to be a meaningful part of XR. There are roles for all levels of engagement.
Each local group acts independently and — as long as the principles and values of XR Australia are respected — with the support of the XR movement in Australia and globally.
