Is there a MacBook app to sync with Base?

Hi - I use a MacBook Pro for most of my work - including as a rebel. To make life easier (ie not have to go into the browser) have been able to:
(i) set up protonmail in the Mac Mail app
(ii) Sync Nextcloud as a folder in Finder
(iii) Access Signal and Mattermost via apps on the MacBook

Is there a way to access Base on my Mac other than via the browser?

thanks

Hi John,

There isn’t a way to access the Base without a browser. However, Discourse (which the Base uses) can create a sort of “app shortcut”, which allows you to open the base in a dedicated/restricted window of the browser.

To begin, you’ll need to open it in a Chrome-based browser (I’d recommend Brave). You should see a (+) button appear in the address bar on the base like so:

When you click ‘install’ it creates an app instance which should appear on the dock:

You’ll see it now occupy its own window, with no address bar etc.

Let me know how you go!

Cheers

It’s worth mentioning that this removes the back button, which was enough for me to abandon the approach and go back to using it in the browser.

I see it is a while ago that this was asked, but there is a Discourse Hub app in the Apple Store for iPad.

I’ve been using that and is OK. Haven’t tried for phones.

Android -

Seems to be a third party provider and not the Discourse project or community.
